1. Automatic Installation
In most cases, Hostinger installs the free SSL automatically when you set up your website.
-
Log in to your Hostinger hPanel.
-
Go to Websites and click Manage next to your domain.
-
Look for the Security section on the left sidebar and click SSL.
-
If it says Active, you are finished!
2. Manual Activation (If it didn’t start)
If the SSL is not active yet, follow these steps:
-
Go to the SSL management page (under Security).
-
Click the Install SSL button.
-
Select your domain from the list.
-
Click Install.
-
Wait for the status to change to Active (usually takes 2–5 minutes).
3. Force HTTPS Redirect
To make sure every visitor sees the secure version of your site, you must “Force HTTPS.”
-
In the SSL management area, find your domain.
-
Toggle the switch for HTTPS Enforcing to ON.
4. Final WordPress Update
Sometimes your WordPress dashboard still thinks the site is using http. You must fix this manually:
-
Log in to your WordPress Dashboard (
/wp-admin). -
Go to Settings > General.
-
Change WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) from
http://...tohttps://.... -
Scroll down and click Save Changes.
-
Note: You will be logged out and asked to log in again via the secure URL.
-
Troubleshooting: Why is my SSL failing?
-
DNS Propagation: If you just bought your domain or changed your nameservers, the SSL cannot verify ownership yet. Wait 2 to 24 hours and try again.
-
Mixed Content: If you see a “Not Secure” warning even with HTTPS, it means some images or scripts are still using
httplinks. -
